Statistics on Tobacco Use in South Australia
Quit smoking strategies in South Australia have been successful with smoking rates falling more than 10% over the last fifteen years to 17.6% in 2011. Although the rates fluctuate over the years, there continues to be a downward trend.

The latest data (2011) show that men continue to smoke more than women and younger people more than older.

There are sections of the population who smoke more than others, especially disadvantaged people such as unemployed people, Aboriginal people and people experiencing mental illness and alcohol and drug problems.
